«Як ми назвемо цю війну?» — is a chronicle of two years of Ukrainian resistance in a full-scale war with Russia, from 24 February, 2022, to 24 February, 2024. It compiles an archive of pivotal events, supplemented with documentary photos, battle maps, illustrations, memes, and infographics.
Each month’s account concludes with reflections from intellectuals, providing insights into the prevailing news or emotions of that period. Contributions include emotional and analytical texts by notable figures such as Roman Ratushnyi, novelist and essayist Oksana Zabuzhko, U.S. historian, professor at Yale University, specialist in Eastern Europe history studies Timothy Snyder, human rights lawyer and civil society leader Oleksandra Matviichuk, journalist and publicist Vitalii Portnikov, activist and Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Tamila Tasheva, among others.
The opening sections, penned by the researcher Ihor Kromph, delve into the precursors of Russia’s attack on Ukraine, explaining through facts how Russia’s aggression against Ukraine lasted not two or ten years, but much longer.
Conceived to document history as it happens, this book endeavours to articulate the ongoing war from the Ukrainian perspective, encompassing both the battlefront and rear, mutual support, global solidarity, and the multifaceted experiences of national endurance.
